Camino Seguro, Guatemala City, Guatemala

With 'Garbage Angels', we were able to contribute to the organization Camino Seguro or Safe Passage. This organization focusses on the education of children whose families are forced to live on the garbage belt of Guatemala City.

Most (one-parent) families are forced to keep their children at home so they can work. The children are forced to search for re-usable material which they can sell.  They have little to no opportunities and living circumstances on the garbage belt are unhygienic and dangerous.

Camino Seguro makes sure that the children have clothes, are fed and can enjoy an education during the day and are able to gp back to their parents at night. In exchange for having to miss out on their children, the parents are meanwhile provided with food packages. 

In 2005 we donated Euro 3000 to Camino Seguro to support the organization with food packages.
